Apple launches new MacBook Pro Retina 15 ″ with trackpad Force Touch and iMac Retina 27 ″ more affordable

The rumors were right, even though the day was not the one expected. Apple just updated the MacBook Pro with Retina display, including the new Force Touch trackpad, faster flash storage, longer battery life and faster graphics. In addition to the MacBook Pro, Apple also launched a new configuration for the 27-inch iMac with 5K Retina display which brings a display with 14.7 million pixels, four-core processor and AMD graphics for $ 2,000 (in the United States), as well as lowering the price of the top-of-the-line model (from $ 2,500 to $ 2,300) .

New MacBook Pro with Retina display

The news itself is not much and was already expected after Apple took the new trackpad to the 13-inch MacBook Pro Retina. It was only a matter of time before it was also implemented in the 15 ″ model. According to Apple, the flash memory of the new MacBook Pro Retina is 15 ″ up to 2.5 times faster than the previous generation; his battery lasts up to 1 hour more (totaling 9 hours); but the big difference is due to the dedicated graphics card (now an AMD Radeon R9 M370X with 2GB of memory, offering up to 80% better performance).

The standard configurations of the machines remain the same. While the entry model comes with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of space for storage, the top-of-the-line comes with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD.

New iMacs with Retina 5K screen

The 27 ″ iMac Retina won a more affordable brother. The new model comes with a 3.3GHz Intel Core i5 processor with four cores (Turbo Boost up to 3.7GHz), 8GB of RAM, 1TB hard drive, and AMD Radeon R9 M290 graphics card with 2GB of memory. The difference for the top-of-the-line model is not so big, it has an Intel Core i5 processor with 3.5GHz with four cores (Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz), the same 8GB of RAM, the same 1TB of space for storage (with the difference of being Fusion Drive instead of HDD) and an AMD Radeon R9 M290X graphics card with 2GB of memory.

Unfortunately it was not yet this time that we saw the 21.5 inch iMac gain a Retina display.

Punctual but important updates to keep the Mac line up to date and in line with what we see on the market. About the prices of these new machines in Brazil well, that is the subject of another article.
