As expected long ago, Apple today updated its line of professional laptops. The new MacBooks Pro bring the newest generation of NVIDIA graphics chipsets and an even longer battery life.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro comes with a NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics processor (up to 80% faster than the previous generation) and a built-in battery that promises up to 10 hours of battery life.
The 15- and 17-inch models now incorporate Intel's Core i5 and i7 chips, in addition to a new automated graphics switch technology from Apple, allowing for a quick and smooth switch between the powerful NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M and the Intel HD Graphics processor , more economical.
"The new MacBook Pro is as advanced on the inside as it is beautiful on the outside," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide product marketing. “With faster processors, impressive graphics and up to three more hours of battery life, the new MacBook Pro delivers both performance and efficiency.”
The MacBook Pro 13 ″ models feature Intel Core 2 Duo processors, 4GB of RAM, 10 hour battery and the NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics chipset. This brings no less than 48 processing cores, the fastest integrated graphics processor on the market. The most compact MBP will be sold in two versions: one with 2.4GHz chip and 250GB HD, at US $ 1,200 (R $ 3,800, in Brazil); the other, with a 2.66GHz chip and 320GB HD, for US $ 1,500 (R $ 5,100 here).

The 15 ″ and 17 ″ models promise to be up to 50% faster than the previous ones. Intel's Core i5 and i7 chips are manufactured using the 32 nanometer process, bringing an integrated memory controller and Level 3 cache that provides more efficient access to system memory. The technology Hyper-Threading Intel improves data output by creating virtual processing cores, while Turbo Boost optimizes performance between the two Colors of the chip, accelerating the system from 2.66GHz to 3.06GHz in intense tasks that really require the use of two cores, or up to 3.33GHz for tasks of only one core.
All larger MBPs bring two graphics chipsets to NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M for maximum performance and Intel HD Graphics, which is more economical. Bringing more than twice the performance of the GeForce 320M, the GeForce GT 330M promises smooth and clear graphics perfect for 3D games, creative software and technical applications. Apple's alternating technology switches between graphics processors automatically, based on the needs of the programs running. This always provides the best performance, while working on a better autonomy for the notebook. The 15 ″ and 17 ″ models can reach 8-9 battery life in a single charge.
The 15 ″ MacBooks Pro will be available in three models: 2.4GHz Core i5 with 320GB HD, for US $ 1,800 (R $ 6,500 in Brazil); 2.53GHz Core i5 with 500GB HD, for US $ 2,000 (R $ 7,100 here); and 2.66GHz Core i7 with 500GB HD, for US $ 2,200 (R $ 7,700 in Brazilian lands). Already 17 ″ will hit the market in a single basic configuration: Core i5 2.53GHz with 500GB HD, for US $ 2,300 (R $ 8,200 in the Apple Online Store Brazil). From there, the machine can be customized by the user, of course.
According to Apple, the MacBooks Pro's glass Multi-Touch trackpad now supports “inertial” scrolling promising an interactive way to browse very large photo libraries or web pages and long documents. The displays of all models continue to be backlit by LED, reaching 1680 × 1050 pixels of resolution in the 15 ″ version and up to 1920 × 1200 pixels in the 17 ″ version. Any MBP can be configured with solid state drives (SSDs), available in capacities of 128GB, 256GB and 512GB.

On the environmental side, Apple once again earned the EPEAT Gold seal and meets all Energy Star 5.0 requirements, making this “the greenest line of notebooks in the industry”. The carcass unibody The laptops are made of highly recyclable aluminum, as well as their LED-backlit displays are mercury-free and use arsenic-free glass. No Mac contains brominated flame retardants or PVC, and all are made from highly recyclable materials.
