Apple today announced the launch of the third generation of the Mac mini, bringing a range of news that has never been seen in previous updates of its most compact and inexpensive computer. Among them, the use of the construction process stands out unibody, initially created by the company for MacBooks and which now reaches another model of its line of desktops.

The new Mac mini occupies an area of just 7.7 square inches and is about 1.4 inches thick, where everything users expect from a complete Mac is present, and with less messy cables, no more need to use a power supply of external energy to feed it, for example, thanks to the use of a new source of smaller dimensions that is integrated to the machine. The total volume of the system has been reduced by 20% and still allows easy expansion on the part of users, with a panel located at the bottom that gives access to the memory modules for exchanges.

Within the small desktop in the standard configuration, is the latest generation of the Core 2 Duo processor with 2.4GHz speed, accompanied by 2GB of RAM (expandable to up to 8GB), 320GB of HD (expandable to 500GB), SuperDrive and the new NVIDIA GeForce 320M, the fastest integrated GPU on the market, with 256MB of memory and 48 processing cores.
Outside, there are the traditional Ethernet ports, Mini DisplayPort, four USBs and audio input / output connections, which come with the new SD card slot and the new HDMI port, which makes it even easier to connect the desktop to televisions and their use as a media center.

Even with higher performance, the Mac mini remains the most economical desktop on the market. In addition, it is the most environmentally friendly, as it uses materials that are easy to recycle and does not require components that are harmful to the environment.
The standard edition of the desktop with Mac OS X Snow Leopard costs R $ 2,700 and is already available in the main Apple stores in the United States in Brazil, the new Mac mini is expected to hit the market in July, but can now be ordered online. There is also a new corporate edition with two 500GB hard drives (one in place of the SuperDrive) and the Mac OS X Snow Leopard Server, which is also available starting today for R $ 3,400.
