IPod’s success in the music market online and all the impact created around the iPhone concept made Apple the most admired company in the United States, in the ranking of Fortune magazine. The table is designed based on the listening of opinions of executives, businessmen and market analysts and in this 2008 edition it places Steve Jobs’ company six positions above the position occupied last year.

«The success of the iPod is very simple: Apple products work, and when you buy more than one they work even better,» explains the magazine on its website.

The distinction comes about a week after it was learned that the iTunes online music store is already the second largest in the United States, in terms of sales volume, right after Wal-Mart.

In third place on the same Fortune list was Google, which over the past few years has maintained a position at the top of the table. The rest of the positions are occupied by solid companies that have built a position in decades and whose businesses have little to do with technology, as revealed by Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway, Procter & Gamble, or Goldman Sachs.

The survey was based on interviews with 3,700 businessmen and analysts representing a dozen sectors.
