Apple is the largest US corporation in the use of solar energy.

Unsurprisingly, Apple is serious about its commitments to the environmentIt is so true that for over a year the company has been operating on 100% renewable energy around the world.

Now the Cupertino giant has been lauded by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) for becoming the first technology company to lead the ranking of solar energy use in business.

SEIA's annual study found that Apple is the largest solar power corporation in the United States, noting that in the last seven years (since the beginning of mapping), no technology company has taken the top rank.

US Solar Capacity Ranking

Counting both local and external capacity, Apple adds up to a production of 393 megawatts (MW) solar power, taking over the place then occupied by Amazon, which last year produced 329MW of energy, followed by Target, with 242MW.

In addition to the solar power production capacity, the Apple parkSpecifically, it is the largest LEED-certified office building in North America and not least, as the infrastructure is powered by various renewable sources such as solar and biogas.

According to SEIA CEO Abigail Ross Hopper, the world's largest companies are increasingly investing in solar and clean energy “because it makes economic sense”; She also said that investments in this energy source will become even more significant as companies use this method to combat climate change and even create jobs.

Throughout 2018, SEIA registered over 7,000MW of solar installed capacity in 35,000 locations across 43 US states, representing over 70% of all US solar potential.
