Apple is removing hundreds of thousands of apps after changes to App Store rules

Eventually, Apple changes some review guidelines for the App Store, resulting in the removal of apps that do not follow the new recommendations, as it did with more than 47,000 of them in October last year.

Right after Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2017, new changes occurred, among them a new item related to the design and functionality of apps:

4.2.6 Apps created from a commercialized template or app generation service will be rejected.

In our free translation:

4.2.6 Apps created from a purchased template or an app creation service will be rejected.

These services (like Tapjet and AppSheet for example) offer a model white label, which basically a template ready, in which the name / logo is added and at most a little customization for the client's app, making it look like they were the ones who developed the complete app.

The result of the change is the removal of hundreds of thousands of apps, mainly clones (which were never welcome in the store, by the way), in addition to directly and deeply affecting the very services that they offer. templates.

If on the one hand this is negative, on the other hand it keeps the App Store “cleaner”, something that has always been a differential of it, even more considering the absurd number of apps available there today.
