Apple is expected to promote a major change in its advertising platform (iAd) [atualizado]

Launched by Apple in March 2010 (still under the guidance of Steve Jobs), iAd (Apple's advertising platform) never took off. Since then, the company has made many changes to the platform, but the truth is that it represents little in the whole. And, most likely because of that, the BuzzFeed he now said that Ma will no longer have a team specialized in selling and creating advertising for its devices.

While the iAd itself is going nowhere, Apple's direct involvement in the sale and creation of iAd units is ending. “Just something we're not good at,” a source told the BuzzFeed News. And so Apple is leaving the creation, sale and management of iAds to the people who do it well: publishers (publishers).

Apparently the entire Apple advertising platform is already being adapted so that publishers can sell content directly through it. And with this change, publishers will be left with 100% of the revenue they generate. The change should happen very soon, perhaps this week; because of this, current members of the iAd sales team will most likely be fired.

After all, it makes sense to sell advertising is not part of the company's DNA and does not bring the financial return envisioned there in the past. In fact, it is best to leave this to those who understand the subject and focus on what Apple really knows how to do.

In fact Apple started making these changes and the iAd App Network, for example, will be discontinued on June 30th.

However, according to the Wall Street Journal, part of the 100 employees who worked directly with the sale of advertising on the network will be directed to other areas.

"Although some iAd sales positions are impacted, we are creating new jobs in operations and engineering to absorb these new advertising workers," said an Apple spokesman. He, however, declined to comment on the exact number of layoffs.
