Apple is expected to launch “iPad mini 5 ″ and new model 10” this semester

At the end of last month, fans of iPad mini celebrated the possibility of Apple launching a new model of the tablet this year. Now, the polemic DigiTimes (which has hits in its history, but also many mistakes) gave yet another indication that the iPad mini is alive and that Ma should launch it this semester, next to a new 10 inch iPad.

9.7-inch iPadSixth-generation iPad with 9.7-inch screen

According to the website, the suppliers General Interface Solution (GIS) and TPK Holding are preparing to manufacture screens for two new iPads in the coming months, which goes against the report of the China Times about the mini model already being in production. According to the suppliers, these models correspond to the “basic” versions of the gadget, but they do not detail what features we can expect from this update.

As we mentioned, it is expected that the next generation of the iPad mini will not differ much at least from the model still on sale (the iPad mini 4), launched in 2015. The larger model would have smaller bezels and, therefore, would replace the current size 9.7 ″ for a new 10 ″; absolutely nothing about a revamped design and possible compatibility with the second generation Apple Pencil has been talked about.

New photos shared by user @laobaiTD, on Twitter, seem to show a case of the iPad mini 5 that, according to rumors, could be launched by @Apple this year. The only physical attribute different from what we have today on the # iPadmini4 is the cutout of the antenna for cellular connectivity in the mini 4 It is made of plastic and, in this supposed image, we have a more subtle antenna (still, not as elegant and hidden as the new ones) iPads Pro). The images show a golden carcass. However, even though the iPad mini 4 and the 9.7 iPad are marketed in that color, the new iPad Pro ruled out this option. Leaving that aside, we still have the 3.5mm audio output, the power button located at the top, apparently a Lightning connector (instead of the current USB-C used in Pro models) and the absence of the flash next to the rear camera (as in the mini 3). In short: if the "iPad mini 5" comes anyway, we will have few changes. (via @ 9to5mac)

Typically, the iPad receives an update during a special Apple event that is held in March or April, and these rumors certainly indicate that the company plans to maintain that calendar in 2019.

In addition to probably higher prices, what should we expect from this year's new iPad models?
