Apple investments in research and development already total $ 6.8 billion in 2018

Although it is not the technology company that most invests in Research and Development, Apple understands the importance of investments in this area. In fact, a report sent by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) shows that the amounts invested in R&D represented about 6% of the total released in its second fiscal quarter.

In the report, the company informed that, during the period, around $ 3.38 billion in research, almost the same amount invested during the first fiscal quarter, which was US $ 3.4 billion. With the new figures, Ma has invested $ 6.8 billion in R&D this year alone; if the scenario persists during the next quarters, it is possible that the company will exceed the US $ 11.6 billion invested in 2017.

For obvious reasons, Apple did not specify in the SEC filings which surveys are being developed, reporting only on maintenance of new and existing products and services (such as updates), new contracts and material expenditures used in R&D. But we know that there is more love in that angel.

Among the suspicions of which new products Apple would be developing, we commented on the virtual / augmented reality device, which supposedly would be equipped with two 8K displays (one for each eye), and would work without the need to be connected to any Mac or iPhone . In addition, Apple's participation in the discussion of autonomous vehicles and traffic safety has increased; even if this does not mean that the company is developing an autonomous vehicle (the “Apple Car”, as it is popularly known), there is something in this area that provokes Ma's attention.

Other possible Apple investments in new products include: a bracelet for the Apple Watch capable of measuring the user's blood glucose levels (non-intrusively), new AirPods with support for “E a, Siri”, a new model of HomePod more affordable and new circum-aural headphones with the Ma brand.
