Apple hires head of Amazon's Fire TV unit to take care of its set-top box

Timothy D. Twerdahl

And the chair dance among tech giants continues. Apple's last major contract was for Timothy D. Twerdahl, as reported a little while ago Bloomberg.

Twerdahl has, since 2013, headed the Fire TV unit on Amazon. At Apple, he will be vice president of product marketing for Apple TV, a position hitherto held by Pete Distad, who will join Eddy Cue in content partnerships, reporting to Greg Joswiak.

Before going to Amazon, Twerdahl was also vice president of consumer products at Roku and director of Internet TV at Netflix, in addition to having worked for companies like Motorola and Palm. Quite a resume!

While some come, others go: John Solomon, hired by Apple in 2015 (until then at HP, since 1992) as vice president of corporate and government sales, is saying goodbye to Cupertino.

Company representatives confirmed Solomon's departure Reutersbut they did not give details of the reason for his dismissal.
