Apple hires at least five employees from a now defunct mapping firm

Until the end of last month, there was an app called Pin Drop which allowed users to easily mark work, travel, entertainment, etc. on the map. Its developer, Caffeinehit, in addition to specializing in the subject also developed applications for other companies.

Pin Drop on iPhone

For, as he discovered the TechCrunch, a Caffeinehit closed its doors but both its founder Andy Ashburner and at least four other employees now work for Apple, whether in the area of maps or in design / engineering software for iOS.

Due to lack of funds, Caffeinehit was unable to carry out its plan to launch Pin Drop for Android. The iOS version has already been removed from the App Store, but whoever installed it on their iPhones can continue using it indefinitely.

There is no way to know if Apple plans to incorporate the features of Pin Drop into its Maps app, but the expertise of the five newly hired people will certainly be welcome in Cupertino.
