Apple gets permission to build another Irish operations building

According to the The Irish Times, Apple obtained authorization to build another building in Cork (Ireland), where it has had its headquarters since 1980.

The news comes to confirm the plans cited by Tim Cook at the end of last year. The idea was to expand operations in the place and, thus, open a thousand more vacancies, totaling 6 thousand employees.

What perhaps the CEO of Ma did not expect when he planned the construction was a request from residents against the project. They claimed that the city would become "practically an industrial state". With one more building and a large number of workers, this would likely affect the landscape and also increase traffic flow. For that reason, the plans needed to be frozen.

Last Thursday (25/8), however, An Bord Pleanla rejected the residents' request, allowing the new Apple building to be built.

Ma confirmed that another 752 parking spaces will be added and that, right after the construction, 200 people would already be employed. The new building will have four floors and will house employees for manufacturing, customer service, finance and global supply chain management. Despite the delay, construction is expected to finish in mid-2017.
