Apple from Japan offers to replace iPod nano that overheat

With the pressure exerted by the Japanese government on cases of iPod nano 1G that suffer from overheating, Apple finally announced on a support page (Google Translate) a program to replace the gadgets, explaining how a user should proceed if they encounter the problem .

Burned iPod nano 1G

Some first generation nano iPods sold between September 2005 and December 2006 contained defective batteries, which could cause excessive heat release and cause a fire. Four people came to suffer light burns because of this problem, in a total of approximately 60 cases of overheating.

Japanese consumers whose nano 1G iPods experience overheating should seek Apple support and immediately replace the gadget with an extension of the same program that was announced in 2008. About 1.8 million nanos of this model have been sold in Japan since September 2005 , but only a minority affected by the problem.
