Apple fixes issue with MacBooks Pro hard drives and releases Bluetooth firmware update

After a long wait, Apple today released an update that corrects problems reported by users of 7,200RPM hard drives since the beginning of July; the update was expected since the beginning of the month. In addition, a Bluetooth firmware update has also just come out.

Hard Drive Firmware Update 2.0

The update reduces the occasional noise produced by 7,200RPM MacBooks Pro drives produced in June 2009. After downloading, I need the user to run the update installer, located at / Applications / Utilities / Hard Drive Update.app.

Hard Drive Firmware Update 2.0 requires Mac OS X 10.5.7 or higher and weighs 3.71MB.

This update brings bugfixes and better compatibility for the Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse and Apple Wireless Keyboard. It must be installed on all Bluetooth-enabled Macs that contain Broadcom chipsets.

Bluetooth Firmware Update 2.0.1 also requires Mac OS X 10.5.7 or higher and weighs 1.78MB.
