Apple documentation confirms use of same graphics technology as iPhone on iPad

The update to the iPad SDK released today brought new information related to the hardware used by Apple on the device, available in the digital documentation provided by it with the development tools. According to the company, the tablet uses a similar graphic technology that already exists in iPhones and iPods touch (but more recent), developed by Imagination Technologies.

It is estimated that this technology, known as PowerVR SGX, is integrated with the A4 processor created especially for the iPad, so it is clear that it will guarantee greater graphic performance in relation to what can currently be obtained in other Apple gadgets. In addition, it must also have been adapted for creating games and displaying high-resolution video, which is one of its exclusives.

Apple has been licensing Imagination graphics architectures for a long time, but until then they were only used to a limited extent on mobile devices.
