Apple's day today was very focused on its stores. First we had the announcement of “Today at Apple” (“Today at Apple”), then an interview with chef Angela Ahrendts and, now, the company confirmed for this Thursday (27/4) the opening of its second store in Dubaiin the United Arab Emirates.
The first had been opened in October 2015, together with another located in Abu Dhabi, both already under the command of Ahrendts. The new one is located in the gigantic Dubai Mall, right in front of the Burj Khalifa skyscraper. The tallest building in the world will now be accompanied by the largest shopping mall on the planet, with an area of over 1.1 million square meters.
In addition to having a huge curved glass facade 57 meters long, it also brings something very innovative: electric windows (called "Solar Wings", 11.5m high each) created by Foster + Parters that retract to increase air circulation inside the store and avoid the use of air conditioning, as well as providing access to a balcony with a view of the Dubai Fountain.
Apple even created an animated GIF:
Obviously, the store that has two floors follows Ma's latest philosophy for its stores, with areas like Genius Grove (which came to replace the Genius Bar), O Forum, at Avenues and the Boardroom. O staff it consists of 148 people, speakers of 45 different languages.
Ahrendts was personally there to speak to the local press and also discuss the recently announced “Today at Apple”:
The Apple Dubai Mall is open from Monday to Wednesday and on Sundays from 10 am to 11 pm, and from Thursday to 10 am on Saturdays. It has everything to give a beautiful boost to the company's figures in the United Arab Emirates, whose two stores have already received more than 4 million visitors to date.
