Apple creates repair program for iPhones 6s [Plus] that turn off alone

Do you have one iPhone 6s or 6s Plus manufactured between October 2018 and August 2019? Has your device experienced any strange behavior involving sudden shutdowns? Please note that your smartphone may be eligible for a free repair even if it is out of warranty (or AppleCare +).

Apple today launched a new repair program for these devices. Ma has found that certain iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus units may experience sudden shutdowns or simply not turn on after a restart all because of an unspecified component that may fail inside smartphones.

The program, as above, refers to handset units manufactured between October 2018 and August 2019 you can check if your device is eligible for free repair on this page by entering the handset serial number (to find out where to find that number, just check out this tutorial from Apple itself).

If your device is eligible, you can take it to an Apple official store or authorized service center for a free repair as usual, so it's a good idea to schedule this service in advance so there's no stress. Apple notes that if the iPhone in question has damage that makes it difficult or impossible to repair (such as a cracked screen or the like), that damage should be remedied before service, which may incur additional charges.

The program is valid for eligible devices for two years from the original purchase date of the device. If you have already made a (paid) repair related to the issue, you can contact Apple to request a refund of the amount spent.
