Apple Cinema 24-inch Displays experience problems when connected to a Thunderbolt port

Today we show you a video of a 15-inch MacBook Pro connected to two Apple Thunderbolt Displays. But if you have a 24-inch Cinema Display (predecessor to the Thunderbolt Display) and a Mac equipped with a Thunderbolt port, be aware that your monitor may have problems.

An open topic in the Apple Support Communities on the subject The thing around is busy, with more than 620 responses shows that several users are experiencing problems when they connect their display to the Mac using the new technology developed by Intel in partnership with Apple. The topic was opened in February, just after the launch of the new MacBooks Pro first Macs equipped with the technology. As we can see, the problem still persists, without an official statement from the company.

A reader of AppleInsider reported the bug, saying that none of the Cinema Displays it has can be used with a MacBook Pro equipped with Thunderbolt. He said he called Apple at least six times, and the company's response is always robotic: "Our engineers are working on it and we hope to resolve it soon."

Let's face it: taking all this time to solve a very important problem like this can be considered almost as a neglect of the company. We are talking about a product that had a short life (October 2008 to July 2010), but still have a few more years of support ahead.

We will see if the case will be resolved with the 10.7.2 update of OS X Lion, which should arrive very soon.

Last week Apple released an update for the new Thunderbolt Displays, in addition to dropping a list of monitor limitations, as they are finally reaching the hands of buyers.

But only today the display came into stock at the North American store. The good news is that we won't have to wait long: in the Brazilian store, the shipping forecast is between one and two business days. If you were planning to buy one of these, the time has come.
