Apple Canada (not yet?) Does not support the US Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular)

It's been a few weeks since Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) has officially arrived in Brazil and since then some lucky people are already enjoying their new watches with 3G / 4G connectivity. I explain: the Apple Watch model with Anatel approved cellular connectivity and offered in Brazil is sold in Europe, as we have already explained.

However, many users, not knowing which model would be sold here in Brazil at the time of the original release of the watch, bought the device in the United States. And as much as the connectivity part of the watch does not work in Brazil, you still have a beautiful smartwatch on your wrist that can perform many tasks. The problem is that these users may face some headaches if their Watches have any problems at least in the short term.

As we speak, the homologated models in Brazil are the A1889 (38mm) and A1891 (42mm), sold in European and Asian countries. What few people know that the American models (A1860 and A1861), which are not sold here, were also approved by Anatel. The reason for this? Probably so that Ma can provide support to American, Canadian and Mexican tourists who have problems with their devices while in Brazil. The problem that this support so far does not exist.

In this discussion of MM Frum, our reader Marcio Castro Mendes reported his situation: he has an American Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) with the AppleCare + extended warranty plan. The watch malfunctioned on the screen, and after a few attempts to contact Apple (both on the phone and in person at Apple VillageMall), it ran into the wall: Ma doesn't support the American Series 3. One manager even entered the serial number of the device in front of Marcio, with the system reporting a lack of coverage.

Apple has not informed the reason for the lack of support nor if this situation will be resolved in the near future; So far, the only solution for users like Marcio is to seek Apple's assistance in the US or to appeal to Brazilian justice, which is a (slightly) cheaper outlet.

We will be aware of the unfolding of this story to bring forth its next chapters as soon as they come out of the oven.
