Apple Campus 2: huge tables for a giant spaceship

If you have been following the news about the construction of the Apple Campus 2, you know that the company has been striving so that its billionaire "spaceship" is really a monument, something colossal and memorable, that represents its brand well. It is no different inside the facilities. As Gregory Han of Design Milk , at Apple “a table in the only a table". For this reason, the Arch a 112-year-old dutch company came together to create huge, innovative tables for the new campus.

The tables have unusual dimensions: 5 and a half meters long per 1.22 meter wide, weighing almost 300 kilos. With these specifications, the only way to be placed inside the building will be by means of cranes and forklifts.

"Table

The innovation is due to the fact that all this magnitude comes from a single uniform piece of wood which, as we might suspect, was an order made by Apple when it saw the first prototype of the table. Made of white oak imported directly from Spessart (Germany), these tables will be manufactured in 500 units which will be distributed in spaces called "Pods" (living area of the company) gives the nickname of “Pod Island Tables”. Their purpose would be to encourage "accidental encounters" among employees, that is, a natural way to bring together concept people that, according to Han, may have originated during Steve Jobs' stay at Pixar.

All 500 tables will cross the Atlantic towards Cupertino along with another 300 tables of the Essenza model, in addition to 200 seats.

Although it seems silly to worry about tables, I believe that the almost 13,000 employees who work there will appreciate every little detail very well thought out by Ma.
