Apple Brazil says it will exchange US iPhones incompatible with our 4G [atualizado]

The controversy surrounding support for band 28 (700MHz APT) of the models iPhones XS and XS Max sold in the United States won a new chapter beyond interesting – or weird, choose you the word.

I explain.

As we reported, this year Apple chose to offer a single model in the United States.

This model (A1920 for XS and A1921 for XS Max) is compatible with more than 40 operators there, including the main four (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and Sprint).

These versions do support the LTE band 7 (2,600MHz), which is the most used in Brazil today.

However, they do not support band 28, which is the new network released for Brazilian 4G (it was previously occupied by the analogue TV signal) and is being rapidly adopted by some operators in some regions.

This means that, when buying an American iPhone, you will not be able to connect to the Brazilian 4G with band 28.

Depending on your city and your operator, this can be a problem.

Maybe not now, in September 2018, but in the not-too-distant future, this could bring you some headaches.

Well, after explaining the problem, let’s go to a possible solution.

According to , a Apple Brazil said it will assist consumers who purchase iPhones in the U.S.

Like? Well, if the device’s 4G does not work properly, there will be a possibility to replace the imported product with another one officially sold in the country by the company.

That’s what you read.

And I will repeat, for those who did not understand: according to , Apple may exchange American iPhones incompatible with our 4G for Brazilian models if the customer has some kind of problem connecting to the network in their region.

?

We are facing an unprecedented attitude.

The information is still very recent, after all, the iPhones XS and XS Max haven’t even reached the international market yet.

But if everything happens as informed, the consumer will not be the injured party in this story – and, even so, Apple deserves applause.

Let us follow the case.

Update Sep 14, 2018 at 11:41

Apple Brazil contacted the MacMagazine with the following statement:

The exchange of a model from the USA for one from Brazil only happens if a defect is identified with the device.

Well, it’s been going on for a few years now.

If a customer has an iPhone purchased abroad and it is defective that cannot be repaired, Apple always switches to a national model (even if this model is different from the one sold abroad).

There is nothing new here.

The novelty lies in what Apple Brazil declared to , which was even reinforced in a new article published there.

Check it out:

THE found that the company is considering the possibility of replacing iPhones coming from abroad with national editions if consumers have difficulties accessing the internet.

It is not known how the procedure will be.

The internal orientation is to treat each case individually.

This statement, at least in our understanding, has nothing to do with defective iPhones.
