Apple bans cases / protective films from its stores

THE iLounge today it received from some manufacturers of accessories for Apple products information pointing to a ban on the cases and screen protectors of Ma stores, both physical and on the internet, in several countries. The Cupertino company has been making contact with some partners in this category for some time, with the aim of removing all products of this nature by May.

Accessories are being removed regardless of their purpose (whether for protection or decoration) or compatible products, including not only iPods or iPhones, but also Macs that have some anti-reflective function solutions. Apple did not give clear reasons for the initiative, but it is believed to be related to the promotion of screen durability, something that has apparently been overshadowed by the presence of these accessories in its stores.

In a related note, the Macworld states that the accessory ban is not just restricted to screen protections for Apple products, but also covers solutions for protecting keyboards and hand rest areas on notebooks. The company should not feel any shock for stopping the sale of these accessories in its stores, but it will certainly affect the performance of many manufacturers in this sector.
