Apple asks court for permanent injunction against Psystar

After securing a victory against Psystar in the San Francisco court, Apple filed for a permanent injunction that impeaches its rival from selling clones of Macs or any software capable of turning PCs into Hackintoshes even if they don't work properly … Thanks to what was decided by Judge William Alsup, the clone maker considered by Apple to infringe several trademarks, copyrights and products resulting from enormous research and development.

Apple vs. Psystar on the scale

Treated as “deliberate piracy”, the way Psystar installs Mac OS X on its machines should be permanently prohibited, in Apple's opinion, for both current and future versions. The injunction request also includes any indirect contribution to the infractions listed above, as well as to all ways of circumventing the technology that makes Mac OS X exclusive for Macs.

If Judge Alsup meets Apple's requirements, Psystar will be unable to sell any self-made machines with Mac OS X. It can still defend itself against these orders and try to keep its case open in Florida, but the chances of it doing this convincing the justice that Snow Leopard is not included in the process are unknown, as it is a version of the Ma system like any other, in legal terms.
