Three days, three news. Today’s was long awaited: Apple has just announced the second generation of AirPods!
Wireless headphones are now equipped with a new chip H1, providing 50% more talk time, support the command “What’s up Siri” is wireless charging case which will also be sold separately. In it, the charging indicator LED is now on the front of the case.
Apple also promises, for the new AirPods, a faster connection time (up to 2x better, according to the company – mainly when switching from an iPhone to an Apple Watch or an iPad, for example) and general improvements in product performance.
“AirPods have provided a magical wireless experience and have become one of the most beloved products we have ever created. They connect easily with all your devices, and provide clear, clear sound as well as intuitive and innovative control of your music and audio, ”said Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing.
“The best wireless headphones in the world just got better with the new AirPods. They are equipped with the new H1 chip designed by Apple, which brings an extra hour of conversation, faster connections, ‘What’s up Siri’ hands-free and the convenience of a new wireless battery case, ”concluded Schiller.
The new AirPods and the new model with the wireless charging case are now available for purchase today in the United States, arriving at Apple Stores starting next week. The normal model will continue for the same $ 160 as before, while the wireless charging version will cost $ 200. Apple will also sell the Wireless Charging Case (which works even with first generation AirPods) separately to anyone who wants it, for $ 80.
The new products will obviously still need to be approved by the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), but their prices are already disclosed on the Apple Brazil website as well: R $ 1,349 for the new AirPods (R $ 150 less than before!), R $ 1,679 for the version with the wireless charging case and R $ 679 for the independent wireless charging case – all installments up to 12x.

These AirPods were initially planned to go on sale last year. They’re also working on a future version with noise-cancellation and water resistance. Those were planned for later this year, but would now imagine that’s for 2020.
