Apple announces that it will trade cracked aluminum Watches Series 2 and 3 screens

Apple has just announced a new voluntary exchange program, this time focused on Apple Watches Series 2 and 3 Aluminum.

According to the company, “under very rare circumstances” some unit screens of these watches may crack on the sides sometimes bypassing the entire case of the device, as shown in the following drawings.

Affected users may take their Apple Watches to an nearest Apple official store or Apple Authorized Service Center for free screen replacement.

The program page has a table with the exact models covered in this case, which can be Apple Watches of 38mm or 42mm always aluminum. The company makes it clear that no version other than those listed therein is part of this "recall".

Consumers with affected units may request a replacement for up to three years from the original purchase date or up to one year from now (program release), whichever is longer. It is also worth noting that changing the screen does not extend the watch warranty.
