Apple Announces Partnership with Girls Who Code to Celebrate International Women's Day

They thought Apple would limit itself to a special challenge on Apple Watch to celebrate the International Women's Day, to be celebrated on the 8th next? Because they found it wrong. The company today announced several initiatives to date and strengthen the representation and inclusion of women in the technology market, programming world and more.

The first initiative is a partnership with the NGO Girls Who Code, which brings the teaching of programming languages ​​to young women to enhance their presence in the technological world. Apple uses its Everyone Can Program curriculum to help over 90,000 youth in the United States by providing professional and financial support focused on the Swift language.

Apple's vice president of environmental, political and social initiatives, Lisa Jackson, shared a few words about the partnership:

We women get the opportunity to have our ideas shape the future. We are excited to support Girls Who Code to empower women to be the developers and innovators of tomorrow's technology.

And don't stop there: Over the course of March, several Apple stores around the world will host special sessions. “Made by Women” from the program Today at Apple. In them, women from all fields artists, musicians, photographers, developers, scientists and entrepreneurs will offer their knowledge and experience in sessions dealing with various topics.

One of the sessions (at Apple Causeway Bay in Hong Kong) will be run by Hillary yip (above), a young programmer and entrepreneur who, at age 14 (!), is CEO of a company and creator of the MinorMynas app; She will talk about ideas for creating the next social platform and share her experiences as a preteen in the tech world.

There's more: Throughout the month, the American App Store highlights, each day, a different app created or led by one or more women. On Fridays, the “Today” tab of the store will bring out notable stories of female developers starting with Lisy Kane, game producer and co-founder of startup Girl Geek Academy. On March 8, games starring the heroine Capit Marvel (whose movie opens the same day) will be featured in the store.

Apple Music, in turn, bring playlists specials with notable women from the music world, while Beats 1 radio will feature, on International Women's Day, a 24-hour program run entirely by women designed to highlight inspiring women.
