Two weeks after launching the AirPods Pro, today was the day for another product aimed at the professional public: Apple has just announced (first, through a tweet Tim Cook!) a new MacBook Pro – awaited model of your notebook, now equipped with a screen 16 inches.
The Retina display, 4% larger diagonally, has a 3072 Ă— 1920 pixel resolution (with 226ppp density), up to 500 nits brightness and, of course, support the wide range of P3 colors. This machine will support next-generation GPUs (AMD Radeon Pro 5000M, manufactured in a 7 nanometer process), with up to 8GB of VRAM.
As expected, Apple finally abandoned the problematic butterfly mechanism on the keyboard of the new MBP and returned to a scissor mechanism (but modernized and improved), “more reliable” than the previous one and with a typing depth of 1mm. Your name? Magic Keyboard.
Confirming rumors, the Magic Keyboard of the new MBP has a physical Esc key and Apple also took the opportunity to return to the conventional design of directional arrows without placing the sides at the same height as the vertical ones (hallelujah!) – that is, in a Inverted “T”.
Internally, we have ninth generation Intel processors with configurations that reach a Core i9 with eight cores (with speeds Turbo Boost up to 5GHz, promising up to 80% more performance), up to 64GB (!) of RAM and up to 8TB (!) of SSD storage – the top-of-the-line configuration now comes with twice as much as before, 1TB.
In addition, Apple promises a clearer and more powerful sound with six speakers, allied to a new microphone which does good cancellation of ambient noise with “studio quality”.
In addition, the new MBP is equipped with Touch Bar (including, of course, the Touch ID sensor), the Force Touch trackpad and the security chip T2 of the Apple. Your battery is now 100Wh, providing an extra hour of general autonomy.
“Our professional consumers tell us that they want their next MacBook Pro to have a bigger screen, top-notch performance, the biggest battery possible, the best possible laptop keyboard, amazing speakers and lots of storage, and the 16-inch MacBook Pro delivers all this and more ”, said Tom Boger, senior director of product marketing for the Mac and iPad at Apple.

Contrary to what was speculated a few weeks ago, the price of the new MBP occupies the space of the previous 15 ″ model – that is, from $ 2,399 in the United States.
At the Brazil, the new models are not yet available for purchase but we already have their prices (the same as before): R $ 21,299 for the version with 2.6 Core six-core Intel Core i7 processor, AMD Radeon Pro 5300M and 512GB SSD; R $ 24,599 for one with Intel Core i9 eight-core and 2.3GHz, AMD Radeon Pro 5500M and 1TB SSD. That’s right: Apple doubled its storage capacities compared to the old models, which came with 256GB and 512GB respectively!
13 ″ model unchanged
Today’s novelties are even concentrated only on the new 16 ″ model that actually arrives to replace the 15 ″ model.
Apple did not touch the smaller member of the family, the 13 ″ MacBook Pro, and according to Mark Gurman (from Bloomberg) it will only be updated next year.
