Apple and IBM form major partnership with United Airlines

Since entering into a partnership in 2014, Apple and the IBM already launched more than 100 apps, achieving good deals in the corporate market. This time, the newest partner of the two companies to United Airlines.

More than 50 thousand iDevices will be used by airline employees, who will take advantage of exclusive applications in the industry, all customized for the use of the company in order to improve customer service and communication between flight colleagues.

Talking about this initiative to the Business Insider, the chief information officer (or chief information officer, United CIO) Linda Jojo said that "a partnership with Apple and IBM gives our company a scale of application development, reuse and, most importantly, speed".

In addition to enabling an improvement for the entire airline team, customers will also be able to enjoy these changes. Jojo explains:

Our employees are now mobile, they are no longer stuck behind a desk. At the port of departure, we now have an attendant who can close a flight or, if there is a problem, he can even issue boarding passes and luggage tags from a printer on his waist, and all done from a mobile device.

According to the official note on the IBM website, the applications will be integrated into United's core business processes, which will also have access to IBM Studios in several cities. The airline company also has a team from IBM iX, specialized in design, development and integration to quickly offer new apps that will adapt to the needs of its employees.
