Apple already sells more iPads than Macs

If this analyst's predictions are right, the iPad has already surpassed the entire line of Macs in weekly sales.

According to Mike Abramsky of RBC Capital Markets, Apple is already selling more than 200,000 iPads a week, a figure that even matches the sales of iPhones 3GS. Meanwhile, Mac sales are no more than 110,000 a week.

Still, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster said a few days ago that the iPad shows no signs of cannibalizing Mac sales. This means, therefore, that the tablet for the time being seen as an additional gadget, or has been acquired by consumers looking for something like an ereader, for example.

Reduced iPad inventories remain common at Apple Retail Stores across the United States. About a quarter of them only have a few Wi-Fi iPad models available; many still work with waiting lists.
