Apple acquired security firm LegbaCore last November

Security

In a late discovery, the MacRumors reported yesterday to today that Apple acquired last November the security firm LegbaCore. The website Firmware Security I had talked about it at the time, but the thing didn’t “spread”.

With the acquisition, LegbaCore co-founders Xeno Kovah and Corey Kallenberg are now working in Cupertino (it was a call “Acqui-hire”). Both are security experts and check it out! were responsible for creating the dangerous malware "Thunderstrike", which was corrected by Apple in OS X Yosemite 10.10.2.

Apple certainly saw the double potential for them to study and make their operating systems increasingly secure. We, the users, stand to gain from investments of this nature and, indirectly, Apple still contributes to stimulate the hacker community in the discovery and responsible disclosure of vulnerabilities.
