More specifically, the firm reported that the App Store was responsible for 66% of the total revenue from app sales, meaning Apple earned approximately $ 12 billion during the last quarter – an increase of 23.3% over the same period last year, when it raised US $ 9.7 billion. Meanwhile, Google Play grossed $ 6.2 billion, about 21.5% more than the $ 5.1 billion pocketed by the Mountain View giant in the third quarter of 2017.

Despite this, the App Store was behind the competing store in the number of downloaded applications (which is nothing new). The number of downloads made from the Google platform is, of course, greater than that of Apple due to the number of devices that run the Android system.
