Another Apple social network dies, this time Apple Music Connect

Those who have been following Apple news for some time will surely remember Ping, Ma's social networking experiment designed to “bring artists” closer to their audience through iTunes. The product failed miserably and Apple seemed to understand what had gone wrong by announcing the Apple Music Connect, a similar functionality tool on your current streaming.

Well apparently things didn't work out very well again because the tool is about to close.

Apple yesterday issued a statement to Apple Music Connect artists and users that, from now on, they will no longer be able to publish content on the platform; previous posts will be removed immediately from the artists pages and the “To You” tab, but will still appear on the platform search by May 24, 2019.

To compensate for the closure, Apple cited renewal on artists' pages and custom radios, which, according to Ma, help platform users connect with content producers in more lasting ways. In fact, Apple Music Connect didn't seem to be fulfilling this role: most artists only had posts from the time the tool was released, which looked like an abandoned section on the platform.

Despite the end, Apple Music continues with its other social features, such as users being able to follow friends and family, and the tool that generates playlists with the songs your contacts have heard most.

App Store Connect

Speaking of the Connect platform, Apple has also announced that developers can now see the statistics of their applications for macOS through the service App Store Connect.

Among the data that can be viewed is the number of times the app page has been opened on the Mac App Store, how many times the app has been displayed in searches or other areas of the store, how many new customers have downloaded / purchased your products, and a lot more. In-app purchase numbers are also included in the dashboard as well as geographically separated data.

The App Store Connect dashboard was previously only available for iOS and tvOS apps.
