Announced at WWDC 2014, HomeKit is expected to launch in August / September only [atualizado: negado!]

Remember the HomeKit? Well, even today this Apple home automation solution has not yet reached the market. It was announced at WWDC 2014 and, although the company has not commented on any specific date for its launch, some Apple partner companies commented at CES 2015 that HomeKit could arrive for now (April / May / June).

Sources of Fotune, however, they reported that the solution will only be launched even in August or September due to the difficulty in making it all real. Apparently, Apple engineers and programmers thought that “it would be easy” to create the code so that these household products connect and work satisfactorily. But the reality proved to be much more complicated, requiring a very large code base to the point that the memory and batteries of these smaller devices cannot take the stride. Thus, Apple is trying to reduce this code to the maximum.

We know little about HomeKit. On the Apple website, for example, there is no “commercial” page, focused on its benefits for home users, there are only technical information about the solution in the area for developers. But the idea behind this is that a person can actually automate household chores. Example: when leaving the house, you could, through an app for iPhone or Apple Watch, send a command so that all the lights in the house were turned off, the door locked, the garage closed, etc. All of this is very simple and easy to set up.

One of the speculations about HomeKit revolves around the supposed new Apple TV, which could play a fundamental role (a kind of "hub") so that all these domestic devices lamps, locks, air conditioning and everything else can talk in a good way. Even so, even though HomeKit still takes a while to launch, there is the possibility that Apple might comment a little on the subject at the initial presentation of WWDC 2015 (on June 8th).

Apple denied that plans for HomeKit are delayed and informed that the first products prepared for the solution will hit the market in June. Through spokesman Trudy Muller, the company said that certification for hardware compatible with HomeKit has been available for a few months and that its partners already have several products ready to be launched.

For me, this is almost certainly one of the themes covered in the keynote of the day 8/6.
