Android users can ban apps from Android Market

In response to FCC, an American agency equivalent to Brazilian Anatel, with reference to the case of the ban of the Google Voice application on the iPhone, Google revealed details about how applications for the Android platform are managed in the Android Market.

According to the company, Android Market currently presents only 1% of banned applications but none of these decisions would have come from Google itself. In other words, the banning process begins with a signaling of specific applications by the user community, and then Google investigates them – there is no pre-approval process for Android developers.

The most common reasons for removing apps are to flag the existence of content that is offensive or that violates copyright laws.
