Android smartphones are most desired in the US

According to a recent Nielsen survey, 31% of American consumers planning to buy a new smartphone are thinking of the Android platform as their first choice. This is the first time that Android emerges the iPhone as the smartphone most desired by the US.

Among the recent consumer acquisitions (in the last six months), Android also wins, reaching 50% of consumers. Apple and RIM are divided by 25% and 15% respectively.

“In March 2011, 37% of consumers said they had a smartphone with an Android operating system. Apple's iOS accounted for 27% of consumers, surpassing Blackberry, which now has only 22% of the market ”, mentions the report.
