Android apps will be able to write data to Google Drive

Google has launched a new API for Google Drive that allows application developers the ability to store data in Google Drive, instead of the phone’s internal memory.

It also means that data created by applications can be automatically synchronized between devices. The change will be completely invisible to users.

When there is no internet connection, the data will be stored in a local cache until you can write to Google Drive again. The move should have some impact on data usage but nothing in excess.
