Android 4.0 ICS Update and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean Forecast

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was officially announced by Google on October 19, 2011, and according to the December 2012 Android Developer Bulletin, the operating system runs on 27.5% of Android devices. Even with many devices receiving the direct upgrade to the latest version, there are still devices waiting for the update to Android 4.0 ICS. So below follows a device list and dates with Google's operating system upgrade forecast.

Google

  • Nexus S – Updated to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean (will not be updated to Android 4.2, as the manufacturer says it is not a stable version for the device)
  • Galaxy X – Updated to version Android 4.2 (GSM handset). However, in Brazil, the update depends on Samsung.
  • Nexus 7 – Updated to Android version 4.2
  • Nexus 10 – Updated to Android version 4.2
  • Nexus 4 – Updated to version Android 4.2 the device may be the first to run with Android 4.2.2 (the device has already been approved by Anatel and has sales forecast in January 2013 in the national market)

Samsung

  • Galaxy Ace – You will not receive the ICS update.
  • Galaxy w – You will not receive the ICS update.
  • Galaxy s – Runs on Android 2.6.3, Gingerbread and will not receive the ICS update.
  • Galaxy S2 Lite – Samsung has started updating S2 Lite for Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2. Initially, the update takes place in Russia, then it should take shape in other countries. The official date of arrival of the update for Brazilian users has not yet been released.
  • Galaxy S2 – Korean Samsung has announced that the upgrade to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system will be released in early February and will start in Singapore. At the moment the device roada with Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

  • Galaxy Tab 7.7 GT-P6800 / GT-P6810 – Updated to Ice Cream Sandwich. Thai Samsung confirmed today, 21.01.2013, that the Galaxy Tab 7.7 will receive the update to Android version 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. The date has not yet been announced.
  • Galaxy Tab 8.9 P7300 – Updated to Ice Cream Sandwich.
  • Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Wi-Fi – Updated to Ice Cream Sandwich. Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update has already started in Europe.
  • Galaxy Tab 2 – Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update has already started in Europe.
  • Samsung Smart Camera / Camera – Samsung started distribution of version 4.1.2 on 01.01.2013 in England.

HTC

  • Sensation – You will not receive the ICS update.
  • Sensation XE – Updated to ICS version 4.0.4.
  • Sensation XL – Updated to ICS version 4.0.4.
  • Desire S – Updated to ICS version 4.0.4. The upheaval for Andorid 4.2 has not yet been confirmed, and the future of this update is still uncertain.
  • Desire HD – You will not receive the ICS update.
  • HTC SalCha, HTC Salsa, HTC Wildfire S, HTC Explorer and other devices with only 512MB ROM will not receive ICS update.
  • HTC Tablets will remain with the Android version Honeycomb.
  • HTC One X + – Awaiting the Android 4.2 update, announced earlier this year by HTC.

Sony Ericson / Sony

  • Xperia Arc – You have received the ICS update, but you will not receive the Jelly Bean update.

  • Xperia Mini – Updated to ICS version 4.0.4.
  • Xperia Type – You will not receive the update Jelly Bean.
  • Xperia Miro – You will not receive the update Jelly Bean.
  • Xperia Sole – You will not receive the update Jelly Bean.
  • Xperia U – You will not receive the update Jelly Bean.
  • Xperia P – Updated to ICS version 4.0.4. Jelly Bean update scheduled for March 2013.
  • Xperia S – Updated to ICS version 4.0.4. Jelly Bean update scheduled for late April 2013.
  • Xperia Neo – Updated to ICS version 4.0.4.
  • Xperia Neo V – Updated to ICS version 4.0.4.
  • Sony Tablet S – Updated to ICS version 4.0.4.
  • Xperia T – Runs Android version 4.0.4 ICS and be updated to Jelly Bean in February.
  • Xperia V – Be upgraded to Jelly Bean before you even reach stores.
  • Xperia J – Jelly Bean update scheduled for March 2013.
  • Xperia Go – Jelly Bean update scheduled for March 2013.
  • Xperia ion – Jelly Bean update scheduled for late April 2013.
  • Xperia Acro S – Jelly Bean update scheduled for late April 2013.

ASUS

  • Eee Pad Transformer – TF101 firmware v.9.2.1.11 updated for Ice Cream Sandwich.
  • Eee Pad Transformer Prime – Updated to ICS version 4.0.4.

LG

  • Optimus 2X – You will not receive the ICS update.
  • Optimus 3D – The update has been announced by LG, but there is no forecast for upgrading the device.
  • Optimus 3D Cube – Updated to ICS version 4.0.4.
  • Optimus 3D Max – Wheel with Android Gingerbread. Although LG has announced the update of this device to ICS, it has not yet released its operating system update.
  • Optimus L5 – Updated to ICS version 4.0.4.
  • Optimus L7 – Updated to ICS version 4.0.4.
  • Optimus L9 – Wheel with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich.

PS: LG has said it is considering upgrading its devices to Android 4.2, but at the moment it will give ICS priority.

Motorola

  • Milestone 3 – You will not receive the ICS update.
  • Defy Mini, Defy +, Milestone 2, Milestone, Defy MB525, Charm, Flipout, Milestone XT720, Backflip or Dext I will not receive Ice Cream Sandwich. The version on which the device is located remains the current version of it.
  • DROID RAZR MAXX – Updated to ICS version 4.0.4. Anticipated update for Android version 4.1.2 in 2013.
  • DROID RAZR – Updated to ICS version 4.0.4. Anticipated update for Android version 4.1.2 in 2013.
  • RAZR i – Forecast to update to Android 4.1.2 version in 2013.
  • RAZR HD – Forecast to update to Android 4.1.2 version in 2013.
  • ATRIX 2 – Updated to ICS version 4.0.4.
  • XOOM – Updated to ICS version 4.0.4.
  • XOOM 2 – Updated to ICS version 4.0.4.

ZTE, Acer Dell, Huawei …

  • Huawei Ascend G 300 – updated to Ice Cream Sandwich.
