Android 2.3 is coming

Android 2.3 is coming

The next major update for Android is about to become available, at least for developers, today anticipate several international specialized media. The rumor gained strength with a message posted online by an alliance member for the open source on mobile phones.

Alvaro Fuentes Vasquez, one of the team members linked to the project, told developers to «prepare their Nexus One for an update to Android 2.3 over the next few days».

The information is conveyed through a message on his Twitter profile and has not yet been commented on by Google, which responded to requests from the press saying it has «nothing to announce at the moment».

The launch of update for version 2.3, also known as GingerBread, had already been pointed out, as of last month, as being «soon» – after Google placed the new «symbol» at the entrance of its offices in Mountain View (USA), as shows a video posted online, which we reproduce below.

Version 3.0 is also due to be presented early next year, with manufacturers such as Asus, Acer, Motorola and HTC promising to show devices with the new OS as early as January at CES.

Editorial note: Fixed the code name of the next Android version.
