Anacom to analyze State communications

11 million euros penalize TelefĂłnica for delaying competition in ADSL

Anacom was mandated by the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communications to study the security of State networks, namely its connection with public communications networks.

The regulator is thus obliged to «carry out a study on the identification and characterization of the interdependencies between the infrastructures of the State’s private networks and the public electronic communications networks, in a perspective of communications security», says a published order this Wednesday in Diário da República.

Anacom’s «survey» will focus on aspects that may «compromise the security objectives of the network and the services it provides», namely issues such as availability, integrity and confidentiality.

After the analysis is made, the regulatory authority will have one year to prepare a report with recommendations for improving State communications.
