To complement the collection and recycling campaign started in 2004, AMI has now signed a protocol with an ink and toners recycled. The objective is to boost sales of this type of articles among the Portuguese in order to increase the recycling rate in Portugal.
The Recycling Campaign Toners e Tinteiros has more than 5,000 participating companies and has already allowed AMI to raise 127 thousand euros since the beginning of the initiative. With the new project, the association wants to maintain its focus on protecting the environment while promoting «green behaviors» and raising funds, since part of the sales proceeds go to its actions at national and international level.
AMI says that when choosing recycled products, the consumer will be guaranteed a «print quality and durability similar to new products» while saving natural resources essential to the manufacture of the product (5 liters of oil per cartridge or recycled toner purchased).
In Portugal, the percentage of sales of recycled products stands at three percent, while in France and Spain the rate rises to 9 percentage points, in Germany and the United Kingdom to 22 percent and in the USA to 50 percent.
