AMEX Digital launches Blu-ray drive upgrade for Macs mini

AMEX Digital launched this week the Mac mini Blu-ray Drive Upgrade Kit for owners of the current generation of Apple's compact computer. With it, it is possible to burn Blu-ray discs up to 4x, but there are two little problems.

Blu-ray on Mac mini

First, the price: it's only $ 200 for the upgrade, which, if you consider the Mac mini to be cheaper, already represents a third of the total cost of the machine. Afterwards, Apple has not yet implemented native Blu-ray support on Mac OS X, so the drive only becomes really useful on Windows (via Boot Camp). In Ma's OS, it can only be used in software such as Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 with Encore or Roxio Toast with Blu-ray plugin. VLC also makes it possible to read these media, if that is your need.

, in the end it may not be a good idea, yet.
