American IT spending released online

The US government announced this week the launch of the IT Spending Dashboard, a tool online which will openly show the spending of Barack Obama and all his offices on Information Technology.

At it.usaspending.gov, users will be able to follow the progress of government projects in the IT field, which has a budget of US $ 70 billion.

It is also possible to give an opinion on the projects and their financing, making available the public contacts of the CIOs of each of the agencies, by clicking on the photo of the responsible. Currently listed online more than 170 projects.

This initiative is part of the USA Spending government program, whose objective is to show the current administration’s fiscal and financial responsibility with total transparency.

The IT Spending Dashboard was developed in just six weeks and is not yet finished. «This is version 1.0, launched in Beta`, which we will continue to innovate and add more and more functions to», points out Vivek Kundra, head of the US government’s information office, quoted by the international press.
