AMD should open its Vulkan driver code for Linux before Christmas

Diolinux

A nice Christmas gift for Linux users who own AMD hardware, the company’s open source driver with Vulkan support will finally be released.

Almost two years ago we heard about the AMD Vulkan driver for Linux, which initially would be closed source, but became open source. Now it is practically ready and should be published before the end of the year.

This is the result of the last two years of AMD’s work with open technologies and will be what we can call the “official driver” for the platform, it has a code base shared between the Linux and Windows operating systems, respecting the differences of each platform.
