AMD releases Boot Camp drivers for its Radeon Pro 5600M GPU

Two weeks after Apple launches a new customization option for the 16-inch MacBook Pro, whose GPU can now be upgraded to a Radeon Pro 5600M, AMD yesterday released drivers suitable for use with the Boot Camp.

The Boot Camp Driver from Radeon Pro 5600M specifically designed for the 16 ″ MacBook Pro is only for Windows 10. It weighs 601MB and allows users to do it dual-boot in the Microsoft operating system on their machines exploit the capabilities of the new GPU in its entirety.

And, incidentally, the first benchmarks hers were very encouraging. In some tests, the new GPU was twice as fast as the 5300M and even surpassed the Vega 56 of the iMac Pro.

On a related note, at least for now the future of Boot Camp on Macs with Apple Silicon is not very promising. For its new generation of computers, Apple seems to bet only on virtualization solutions within macOS itself.
