AMD CEO is another one who recognizes that the iPad is affecting the notebook market

Denying this is the same as proving to the world that you are out of touch with what has been happening in the market. It is no wonder that Dirk Meyer, CEO of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), joined yesterday a group of those who already recognized that the iPad is directly affecting notebook / netbook sales.

Dirk Meyer, AMD CEO

“Clearly, in the past one or two quarters, tablets have caused a stir in the notebook market. If you ask five people in the industry, you’ll get five different answers about the degree of cannibalization they’re having on netbooks or notebooks, ”said Meyer. "Personally, I think the answer is both, and given the high prices of the iPad, there is probably cannibalization even for heavy notebooks."

At least now AMD has good reason to justify the $ 118 million loss reported in its last fiscal quarter while maintaining its position as the second largest PC processor manufacturer in the world. In the long run, Meyer hopes that the tablets themselves will open up new business opportunities for his company.
