Processor market grows with AMD gaining share

AMD today announced the launch of a set of new processors. The highlight of the ad goes to the new line of low-cost processors for desktop computers, the Phenom II dual core at 3.2 GHz, which will be available for $ 99, according to information provided by the manufacturer.

Another Phenom II was part of the same announcement, but in this case quad core, with a clock speed of 2.6 GHz and a TDP (thermal design power) of 65W (in the cheapest model the TDP rises to 80 W) and three new Athlon II, with two, three and four Colors.

The new Athlon, with clock speeds between 2.9 and 3.1 GHz, feature a TDP between 65W and 95W, which reflects the company’s concerns with reduced energy consumption and low noise.

The prices of these new Athlon vary between 74 and 119 dollars. They are also aimed at desktop PCs.
