Amazon, the world’s largest online retailer, announced on Wednesday the launch of its long-awaited Android tablet, the Kindle Fire, at a very competitive price: $ 199.
According to Amazon Chief Executive Jeff Bezos, the company expects to sell millions of units, including the Kindle Touch, an electronic reader with a touchscreen, whose starting price will be $ 99.
«They are premium products at non-premium prices,» Bezos told the audience. «We will sell millions of them.»
With the tablet, Amazon hopes that its consumers will be encouraged to consume digital content and services, in addition to the acquisition of new physical products from the company.
