Amazon today announced the launch of the Amazon Appstore in Brazil, an alternative app store for Android devices. Consumers will be able to purchase applications with the cost in Reais.
āCustomers can now download the Amazon Appstore in Portuguese for their Android smartphones and tablets by visiting www.amazon.com.br/appstore. Consumers can buy apps and games from the Amazon Appstore on the website, on their Macs, PCs, or directly from the store app on their Android smartphones and tablets, āsaid the company.
Unlike Google Play, all apps on the Appstore are tested by Amazon. The company also said it will offer customer service for the purchased applications.
āWe are excited to offer Amazon Appstore starting today for millions of customers in Brazil who have Android devices. Brazilian smartphone and tablet users are known to be passionate about technology, and we look forward to making it easier for them to discover and buy the apps and games they like best, āsaid Mike George, Vice President Amazon Appstore and Game Services.
āAnd as customers can pay in Reais, there is no need to use an international credit card, preventing purchases from being subject to exchange variation and the IOF in purchases in dollars, of 6.38%. The value of the purchased application is exactly what the customer sees at the time of purchase, with no surprises. ā
And, of course, Amazon announced that the Brazilian version of the Appstore brings the Free App of the Day session, which offers a free premium app every day.
