Altice Portugal chooses Ericsson to implement infrastructure for fixed-line services

Altice Portugal announced that Ericsson will become its main supplier of MTAS technology (multimedia telephony application server) throughout its network. The Swedish manufacturer was selected to implement the fixed telephony services, providing the entire complete solution, which includes not only MTAS, such as NFVI (cloud infrastructure), as well as systems integration and support services.

The telecommunications operator explains that Ericsson's MTAS supports traditional telephony systems, but also future services, such as applications for multiple equipment and multimedia services through various accesses, which include fixed, mobile and Wi-Fi networks. In addition, it offers high quality voice services with respective support for regulatory and supplementary systems equivalent to the public switched telephone network (PSTN).

The implementation of MTAS is expected to be implemented in the first half of 2020.
