Altice Portugal and Cisco join the Câmara de Oeiras to guarantee distance learning in the municipality

Altice Portugal has allied itself with the municipality of Oeiras in a technological project to guarantee distance learning. The telecommunications company will make hundreds of pieces of equipment available to students and teachers in the municipality, in a plan to reduce inequalities. The project covers more than 20 thousand students and two thousand teachers.

The initiative of the Municipal Chamber led by Isaltino Morais aims to ensure distance education during this third term of schools in the municipality, in order to mitigate inequalities in access to education. In addition to Altice Portugal as a technological partner, Cisco is also involved with the provision of the Cisco Webex platform.

We find ourselves in a situation where decisions now made must respond to the present and secure the future. Putting technology at the service of people is Altice Portugal's goal and commitment to society, which actively contributes to accelerating the digital transformation process in Portugal, highlights Nuno Nunes, Altice Portugal administrator for the business segment.

Altice Portugal will provide LTE and 4G routers, with unlimited data packages, as well as tablets, laptops, smartphones and USB webcams. The company will also guarantee the configuration and training provided to teachers, as well as technical support for the entire project, including a Service Desk service, with the allocation of two free numbers to clarify teachers and students.

Altice Portugal adds that in the last three years it has been investing in the network infrastructure of the municipality, guaranteeing optical fiber coverage in about 95% of the territory. This will be the basis of the new teleworking and remote education project leveraged by the city council.
